Abe Herbaugh: Smooth Bent Apple Reverse Calabash
Product Number: 002-614-0016
In one of Passion for Pipes
December blogs, Abe Herbaugh received the thumbs up as “Most Promising Emerging Pipe Artisan” from Neill Roan, and Mr. Roan was right on the money. As advanced as Abe’s work was when he first debuted on our site back in 11/2013, his craft has continued to accelerate faster than a particle in the Hadron Collider. When my fellow content critters and I had our first chance to look at the briars for Abe’s next update, not one of us immediately identified this sophisticated bent Apple as a reverse-Calabash. The fact that we eventually realized it is immaterial, Herbaugh’s ability to incorporate the same in such a seamless manner, however, is quite material. Shaped to perfection, comfortably elegant in its modernity, and featuring a smoke-cooling, reverse ‘bash chamber in the shank, Abe Herbaugh has taken yet another major stride forward in his art, as well as created a briar that carries our unqualified recommendation.
