Alexander Tupitsyn is a young pipemaker, but he's a young pipemaker that has put plenty of time in at PS Studio, Vladimir Grechukhin's artisan workshop. As such, I'm not all that surprised to see that while he is clearly capable of tackling very modern, artistic shapes (you'll notice a few in this very same batch), he also quite clearly doesn't feel the need to keep doing so with every pipe. That is to say, he's got enough experience and maturity in terms of pipemaking to know that there's nothing wrong with simply making a great rendition of a classic shape. And that's just what he did here, the result being a handy, fat-bowled, ring-grained plum of a briar.
