When it comes to titling a shape as a Tomato, “bent” is such an underlying assumption that our shape drop-down selector doesn’t even offer bent Tomato as an option (much like Calabash). I’m not sure if Alexander Tupitsyn can single-handedly force our IT team to create a bent/straight modifier for the form, but he is giving it his best shot – so far all of his Tomatoes have been straight, or so slightly curved that they make the Prince shape look like an Oom-Paul by comparison.
To his great credit, one of my partners in crime (Eric) has pointed out that, based solely on a simple, matter-of-fact description, a reader could mentally arrive at quite a few different shapes, but a Tomato wouldn't be one of them. A flat, low-slung shank/bit profile combined with a plump, rounded bowl held aloft? The very fact that Tupitsyn can create a signature interpretation of the Tomato, and it's a (damned-skippy) fine one, is simply further testament to his skills as an artisan.
