We here at Smokingpipes have been especially fortunate over the past several months to add a number of talented new pipe makers to our roster. Our latest addition is Daniel Mustran, a Croatian maker with a flair for creative shapes and finishes, this rusticated bent Apple being one of his tamer numbers. That’s not to say that Mustran hasn’t taken certain liberties with the shaping. Most noteworthy are the flattened cheeks of the bowl, which bring a bit of a streamlined feel to a conventionally round shape. Like a traditional bent Apple, the pipe fills out the hand nicely, either cradled or grasped. In terms of smoking qualities, I suspect that the wide open draw, carefully selected Manno Briar, and hand-cut acrylic stem will make this a high performing addition to your rotation.
