Smooth olivewood doesn't get the love it deserves. I mean, when it comes to other hand-turned items, it's widely appreciated, but most pipemakers who work in this uniquely grained material evidently prefer to sandblast it. But here, at least, Tonino shows off the smoky-rivulet beauty that a nice piece of polished olivewood can produce, sans any need for contrast stains. And he wasn't bashful about it either. He went large, here, offering up a Lumberman of statuesque proportions.
