Ichi Kitahara: Smooth Bent Dublin with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-340-0081
Though quite a minimalist design (and all the more so when compared to many of Ichi's own freehand pieces), this bent Dublin doesn't simply fall back onto the shaping cues of the Danish school's Danish Modern stylings, but instead presents something every bit as clean and simple, but far more organic. Actually, it would seem to push the bounds of merely "organic," the play of flow and gesture, along with the set, posture, and form of the bowl, transition, and shank alike resulting in a silhouette that appears downright whimsical, alert, and curious. It is, overall, an unusual design, and with unusual design's the element that makes or breaks them is the presence of character - something this piece, fortunately enough, has a whole lot of.
