This is, most certainly, an odd one - but one that is odd in that imaginative, organic manner that we expect from Ichi Kitahara, it must be said. The underlying basis for this design is pretty clearly those sweeping, dramatically canted, but thoroughly minimalist Horn designs found in the Danish school, but the similarities end once we approach the rim. There we find Ichi indulging in no little amount of abstracted, organic sculpting, resulting in something which I can't quite decide whether to interpret as "floral," or as inspired by the "sandworms" of Frank Herbet's Dune
novels. However anyone else may interpret the shaping, though, one thing I think we can all agree on is that the flame grain is fantastic.
