No matter how a collector’s tastes might lean, I think there is something of universal appeal to Michail Kyriazanos, both as a man, as well as his work. A young carver who entered service to his country (Hellenic Navy) immediately out of college, holds a special place in his heart for clean, balanced and traditional shapes (be they English of Danish), and, from the very start, elected to take the highest road possible in all matters concerning his craft. Robed in a stain that is quite reminiscent of “Bruyere”, plenty of three-alarm flame grain is discernible through the deep burgundy now, and will become even more prominent with gentle smoking. Kyriazanos incorporates a gently cupped, Danish Billiard style bowl into a pencil shanked Lumberman in such an intuitive manner, that what might have been considered novel, now seems to be a pure natural.
