Smooth Horn (F)

Product Number: 002-623-3626

Tsuge Ikebana not only creates some magnificent horns, they maintain their excellence of execution across a wide variety of interpretations and the growth of differing iterations never seems to come to a standstill. Recently, Ikebana Horns seem to be trending to a more hand friendly, overarching bent Egg form, and the front of the bowl has morphed from a yawning rip of plateau, to a flat panel, and now to this “first” I have encountered from the “Flowers of the Pipe World”...

While a teardrop rim with the point/reduction directed to the fore isn’t entirely new, what follows is. That point is the genesis for a breathtakingly beautiful ridge that runs down the full length of the bowl, shank and continues to the mount. Combined with a plump body which presents a left-to-right bias, from the smoker’s perspective, the sum is a hypnotically sinuous sense of implied movement within a definitively Rubenesque briar. A seeming contradiction, I agree, and this is one of the very few times (outside of some unusual S. Bangs) which I have run across it. Quite cool.
