Well stuff my ears with jam and stake me to an ant hill! Perhaps it’s because I have been describing too many S. Bang briars lately… (Who am I kidding? “Too many” and “S. Bang” don’t belong together on this plane of existence, much less in the same sentence), but does stunning, ‘E’ Grade Ikebana seem a bit reminiscent of Per & Ulf’s work? The taller D-shaped shank and the rounded, canted egg shaped bowl are both elements that I would anticipate from the Danish company. Still, that breathtaking plane that runs from the fore of the rim, through the underside of the shank, is pure Tsuge, as is the diminutive proportions of the bit. While I love the more ‘by the book’ Tsuge Eggs as well, I feel the element that really makes
this beauty is the juxtaposition of plane and sphere, as well as the incredible birdseye canvas created by the presence of the former.
