Adam Davidson is very particular about his bamboo, both in terms of the quality he acquires and how he uses it; spacing and proportions of the knuckles both to each other and to the shank and stem, thickness, etc. It all pays off in the end, of course, so that even when he's using a stouter piece than he usually goes for, like here, the pipe overall retains a sound aesthetic balance, and sense that the design is unified as whole - not just a nice piece of briar with some bamboo stuck on as an afterthought. Speaking of the briar, the sandblast on this Danish-inspired Brandy is divine; crisp and light, and displaying a gently rolling ring grain all around.
