This design is beautiful, an elegant pairing a dark, organic bamboo and a clean, sleek bowl and shank. But that's nothing unusual for Adam Davidson, of course. The presentation of the grain, however, is spectacular even by this artisan's standards. Great briar is just the starting point, however, as what really makes this piece remarkable is the finishing technique, a contrast stain which, though dark, brings every feature out with amazing depth. I don't want to give away any of Adam's secrets, so I'll leave it at saying that Adam's keen interest in the Colonial and Revolutionary War period has payed off here. Yes, the technique he used is that old.
