Leave it to Adam Davidson to come up with the right name for a pipe. The ordinary type of man may have settled on ‘sitter speeding dublin’ and in doing-so would have most accurately described the fundamental, stripped down quantitative nature of the pipe in question. However, that Adam has christened this piece a ‘Persian Slipper’ an exotic charm and simple grace was lent to a composition that implied as much on its own. Here Adam has carefully carved around a few freckles of plateau alongside the rim of the pipe, adding to the overall nature of the piece a dimension of organic texture. At that, the piece is an awesome display of rich tortoise-birdseye juxtaposed atop an explosion of beautifully combed straight grain that runs down through to the foot. This is such a captivating piece.
