The J. Alan pipe studio is located in sunny San Diego, California; a city that has been referred to as "the Craft Beer Capital of America", boasting close to 100 breweries and brewpubs, and counting. It is no secret that along with a strong cup of coffee or a wee dram, nothing pairs with a fine bowlful of tobacco like a cold brewski.
Being an avid beer aficionado, it is only natural that Jeff saw something special in the classic Dublin shape. The "Pint Glass" has become a popular signature shape of Jeff's and deservedly so. It is a compact, handsome number with somewhat stout (hehe) proportions. [He who would pun would pick a pocket, Shane. - ed.] This example features a fine, detailed and dark cross grain sandblast, a gently beveled rim, an incredibly comfortable saddle stem, and a gorgeously-patterned horn military mount (with brass reinforcement ring). The chamber dimensions are ideal for the Virginia (and flake) smoker and the overall lightweight of the pipe (coupled with that comfy stem) add up to a handy briar that is an absolute dream in the teeth. I should probably put this Pint Glass down, as it's not even close to 5 o'clock, and I'm already developing a tremendous thirst. Cheers!
