Ardor is never one to let the rigid guidelines of the canonical shapes stifle their creative output. We shall call this piece an Egg for lack of a better word, but because of its stouter proportions in bowl it almost is classifiable as an Apple. I don't know whether the shape mixing was intended to culminate into a better feel in hand, but the pipe does nonetheless. Speaking of the bowl, the two hued rustication presented here is something I've never quite seen from Ardor: smooth tracks of smoldering red, with black crag filling in the gaps - brings to mind flicking hot embers jumping up from a cauldron. A creamy ivory-colored acrylic accent brings a touch of light to an otherwise serious piece, instilling that quirky optimism for which the brand is prolifically known.
