For their "Sherlock Holms" series of designs, Ardor could have gone with a series of old-fashioned gourd Calabash shapes, but then that wouldn't have been very "Ardor" of them. Instead they've produced an impressive array of briars which take the general themes of the gourd's shaping, then run wild with them. The results have been, more often than not, thoroughly and playfully whimsical. Such is the case with this "XIV", bearing the Calabash's sinuous gesture, but ending it in a bowl that more closely resembles a rather stout-stemmed mushroom.
