While I wouldn't recommend you try to go on a stroll with this Paolo Becker clenched between your teeth, I will note that by rendering this beast of a Liverpool in strawberry wood, Becker did no doubt add a lot of lightness. Of course, one of the great properties of this alternative medium is that while it does cut a fair bit of weight, being notably less dense than briar, it sacrifices nothing in terms of grain. Indeed, sandblasted strawberry wood tends to produce some real knock-out stuff - copious as that of choice briar, yet wilder in pattern. You can see plenty of it here.
