Most pipe makers choose to make Volcano shapes that bear more of a casual resemblance to the shape's namesake, but in this case Benni Jorgensen has really gone the route of making the shape seem ready to erupt at any moment!
By dramatically scooping and angling the rim above, applying a smoldering amber stain to the cascades of flame grain rushing like lava down the curving and sloping flanks of the bowl, and giving the base of both the bowl and shank a hefty swell, Benni practically made this pipe a geological sculpture; the volcanic as art. In addition, the base (of beautiful birdseye) is curved upward with such thrust that the whole shape appears to float, despite its mountainous nature.
Ever dreamed of owning your own Hawaiian Island? This floating, geologic, volcanic pipe offers a far more affordable alternative, and probably a safer one too. After all, why invest in a volcano whose billows of smoke are liable to be accompanied by sirens and mass evacuations, when you can have one that instead offers the deepest peace and relaxation?
