About This Pipe
I can try and theorize where the name for the Avanti line probably originated, my first guess relating it to the intersecting stylistic ridges going across the facade of the bowl and shank, my second is that the pipe was named after the luxury Studebaker once described as "one of the more significant milestones of the postwar industry", or perhaps after the classic 1972 American/Italian film produced and directed by Billy Wilder, both excellent in their own right. Since Avanti is generically defined as "forward", I'm going to assume that just I don't know, instead of concocting some absurd yarn about the "forward moving" motion used to scrape the surface after its finish. What I do know is the pipe is beautifully crafted bent Apple, with a subtly rounded bowl that gently transitions to the curved shank.
