The Butz-Choquin brand goes back to 1858 when Jean-Baptiste and Gustav Butz joined forces to create pipes in Metz, France. The factory moved to St. Claude, France, which is considered the home of the briar pipe. Many different factories in St. Claude turned bowls for their own pipe making and other companies such as Dunhill. Butz-Choquin continues to produce many varieties and styles of pipes at affordable prices using turned bowls, acrylic or vulcanite stems, and a lot of vibrant accents for stain and shank adornments.
