Arriving on the heels of their shaping revolution, sophisticated executions of a more Pesaro & Danish classical bent took their place alongside of the familiar Caminetto interpretations, and this Poker is a splendid example of the next-wave. Rather than simply a broad cylinder with a slender shank running close to parallel with the surface, this is one sleek and stylish sitter which makes use of a canted heel to elevate a briar and bamboo shank. Moreover, this bamboo work feels "right", doesn't impart any sense of the "Well, get it in there, somehow", which bugs me with a lot of Italian rhizome applications. Good stuff.
