Castello: Natural Vergin Cherywood with Silver (GL)
Product Number: 002-386-1172
The "turned" style sterling silver mount found on this high-rimmed, deep-chambered sitter appears to be a new thing fro Castello - we've never seen it until just this year. Actually, I suppose it should more properly be referred to as a ferrule, seeing as instead of simply fitting over and reinforcing the briar of the shank-end, it appears to be a solid chunk of the precious metal throughout the majority of its length, albeit with an acrylic inner lining that allows the army-style push stem a better, more secure fit. The few we've seen so far have invariably been featured on larger sitter shapes, like this one, which I guess makes sense; it would take quite a good-sized briar to counter-balance that much silver, after all.
