For those of you who like your ring grain only when its stacked quite neatly, this isn't the briar for you. For those of you who like something a little more novel now and then, go ahead and take a closer look. In one of the more unusual patterns I've come across, this briar's rings transform from a fine, cascading fan along the right into a great, rolling, broad yet smooth pattern along the left, forward face, and heel the latter form reminding me, more than anything, of what you'd typically see out of a choice bit of sandblasted olivewood, rather than briar. The latter, I should also note, plays particularly well tot he shape itself: a strongly proportioned, yet very smooth-flowing bent Billiard.
