We don't often receive pipes from Claudio Cavicchi that bear colored acrylic stems, and I can't recall coming across one before that used this translucent, red-amber hue. I was surprised to see, and so was Bear - yet now that I have seen, I have to say that though unexpected, it works. The reddish quality complements well the auburn of this briar's under-finish, while the dark amber shade maintains a measure of contrast with the same. As far as the shaping and sandblast goes, however, there are now surprises here. Typical of Claudio, the form is perfect, and the ring grain plentiful.
