Like I expect at least few of you out there, at first glance of this Asteriou Author, my first thought was of those chubby old Comoys that so many collectors scramble over. Well, I won't hesitate to say it: this Chris Asteriou creation is like that old Comoy's shape, but better. It's chubbier, with an even plumper shank-to-bowl ration. On top of it all, it's even more charmingly compact; he's done all that while including lines that flow in an easy, lively, almost naturalistic style. Looking at those that trace out this pipe's profile I'm reminded of the easy grace seen in the vine-work that was so prominent a feature of the elegant appeal of the Art Nouveau movement.
