Presenting Chris Asteriou’s first foray into the world of Buddha Belly bamboo to make it to our site, what do you think? Given that, until now, I have only seen the material used in very organic (bordering on the geological) compositions, I am rather thunderstruck by how intuitively it works in more traditional settings. When the actual stalk of bamboo is employed, rather than the rhizome (root), its presence is heightened well beyond that of an accent or supporting role, making the size and character all the more critical. Chris chose a dandy for his ferrule, and look at the way it pairs with the bowl. If you are loving his choice of stem for this bent Billiard, you’re in some decent company; it has received universal acclaim in this building. Sweet.
