It is a relief to this enthusiast that Greek Architect-turned-pipe maker, Chris Asteriou, is equally adept at exploring the more difficult shapes, as he is at rendering gorgeous and graceful interpretations of the classics. Case in point: this Blowfish that reminds me of the work of the prominent Russian Artisans. From above, the transition is cinched and the shank drastically flared. The drilling is spot-on and the stem work remarkable. Most impressive is the cross grain; resulting in an unbelievable concentration of birdseye along the left flank of the stummel that includes a few smart patches of plateau. Chris has gone the extra mile here and continued the texture of one of those patches all the way onto the vulcanite mount! Delightful.
