Though Max Rimensi does occasionally send a big-bowled, traditional Italian Billiard our way, something this classical English-oriented is a rarity. Granted, its design doesn't adhere completely to the old English style, as the touch of cant, paired with slightly fuller shank proportions (relative to the trim bowl) call to mind modern American artisans' reinterpretations of the English classics as well. That Max would make a briar in the style of an English classic with a bit of modern American tweaking doesn't come as much as a surprise, however. One of things that really makes his work stand out, particularly in relation to other Italian artisans in general, is the broad stylistic spectrum he works in, as well as the skill with which he manages to execute designs across different schools of shaping, whether it be Danish, Japanese, Italian, or in this case, what I guess you could call Anglo-American Modern.
