Tom Eltang: Smooth Horn (Snail)
Product Number: 002-299-0350
Sleek, natural flow, a slip of a profile backed up by a powerful breadth of form, a minimalist approach to asymmetry that both produces both a subtle sense of organic inspiration aesthetically, and a more engaging feel in hand; this smooth Horn may not seem a complex design at first glance, but a closer look quickly shows that a lot of skill and experience has gone into it. But then, that is what we would expect from Tom Eltang, and all the more so for something that met the lofty standards of his "Snail" grade. And as if you hadn't already noticed, along with a great deal of remarkable skill, a great deal of truly remarkable briar went into this shape as well, resulting in an underside and topside alike covered in broad swathes of gorgeous birdseye, flanks edged with sweeping bands of flame, and a rim neatly divided between displays of both.
