About This Pipe

While visiting Tom in Denmark this summer, the estimable carver dug out from some hidden treasure trove in his workshop a handful of pipes that he'd made and managed to hold onto after several generations of pipe carving. One of which was this amazing little paneled bent Brandy that he'd made for Stanwell twenty years ago or more. Sykes and I exclaimed that he ought to make something like that for Smokingpipes.com, and lo and behold, a few months later we're met with this guy: the spitting image of that pipe we first saw in August, albeit somewhat larger (and accented with a horn mount). This is just an awesome shape; I love the the bottom line of the bowl and how it cuts such a stark defining line across its back cheeks. All the paneling here is really fantastic, actually, as the lines serve to square off the composition like some vintage sports car. This is a tremendously delightful surprise from Tom, and I really do hope he makes a few more of these for us.
