I suppose if one wanted to be particular, this design could be more properly designated as the "Tubos Mk. II". Originally Tom fashioned these playfully-proportioned little numbers with a shank that was every bit as broad as that of the current version, but that was also much, much shorter. However, after becoming acquainted with the "reverse Calabash" concept, he evidently realized that this signature, minimalist design theme was a perfect candidate for the inclusion of a cooling chamber. As it turned out, he was right - and combining that element with the already widely renowned engineering of his standard-bore briars has resulted in a design that is now reputed to consistently provide some of the finest, coolest, driest smokes money can buy.
