Tom Eltang: Smooth Dublin with Mastodon

Product Number: 002-299-0351

While the straight Dublin isn't entirely unknown in the Eltang body of work, (given that you are now looking at one, feel free to insert a sarcastic 'no kidding' here), they are actually quite rare, and the (very) few we receive invariably feature a bowl with a vertical/very slightly canted execution. Well sir, we can now scratch 'invariably' from the preceding sentence, for the bowl of this dynamic Dublin runs roughly twenty-four degrees off of perpendicular from the shank. Wow? You bet.

As cool as the profile is, you'll probably agree that even more magic may be found from the top perspective. Adorned with mastodon ivory, this is a mount and bit that we're more accustomed to seeing on (say) an 'Eskimo' than a Dublin, and the 1.15" wide mount reduces to .75" on its path to the bowl, before things explode into a 2.26" x 1.79" cone of straight and flame grain. Holding this beauty in my right paw and viewing from the smoker's perspective, I can almost visualize the smoke cooling, as it makes its way from bowl to bit. I say 'almost', because it's damned hard to make a mental jump past all of that birdseye.
