About This Pipe

The Cutty is one of my favorite old shapes. The classic Cutty is evocative of the heritage of pipe shapes and the earliest traditions of tobacco smoking. The form has been handed down to us after centuries of pipe shape evolution, beginning with the clay pipes popularized by Europeans. Sadly, over the last fifty or sixty years the Cutty has generally fallen out of fashion with pipe smokers in place of more modern designs that fit in line with contemporary aesthetics. Here Tom Eltang blends the old with the new, borrowing the outline of the conventional shape in order to marry it with a supple curvaceousness of style and fluidity of line unique to the estimable pipe maker and not ordinarily associated with the more rigid model. It's a successful execution and a brilliant looking pipe. Definitely my favorite of the day.
