Although we brought nearly two-hundred pipes to this year's West Coast pipe show, which was held just last weekend, the four pipes we featured from the workshop of Alex Florov seemed to occupy the attention of just about everyone that happened to visit the Smokingpipes.com showroom table. This, of course, is for good reason. Alex Florov is a highly regarded and superlatively skilled carver; his usually fascinating, intricately designed, and always carefully executed work is greatly sought after by collectors. This Dolphin is a handsome example of the kind of imagination and artistry Alex brings to his craft as he is particularly adept when working with shapes that show off plateau, as you can see here. Lithe, luxurious, and all around elegant, this lightweight sitter promises to be as excellent a smoker as it is an art object. Kudos to the pipe maker!
