Rummaging through our archives, this shape seems to be a relatively new one for Gabriele Dal Fiume and one that he has taken a shine to. Nature is something of an abiding theme that I have noticed in Gabriele’s work, and often there is a palpable sense of the organic that accompanies it. These Volcanoes/Cherrywoods (let’s call them ‘Cherrycanoes’) are the first time that I felt a playfulness in his briars, and it’s pretty hard to have one of these amiable critters in the hand or on the desk and not break out in a grin. The dimensions of the tobacco chamber are about as perfect as it gets to enjoy a delicate flake or coin tobacco, plus a depth over slightly over 2" will allow you to 'keep a good thing going' for quite a bit.
