What does one expect from an artisan couple whose well-appointed workshop is contained inside what appears, from the outside at least, to be but an old circus-wagon resting in a quiet Swedish meadow? Well, a great deal indeed, if that artisans happens to be Love Geiger and Sara Mossberg. They used to work in an old wagon, but needed to expand into a proper workshop in their home and did so eight years ago. They each put a great deal of time into their creations, 20 hours more for each pipe, and though his annual production is small in numbers, the results are fantastic - the brand has come a long, long way from his first amateur endeavors of shaping simple pipes for himself and his friends from soapstone.
This "Bishop" is one of his richer and more dramatic compositions, sporting a full and proudly-presented bowl, accentuated by a subtle plane raised along the rear face of the bowl, and trailed by a light, smooth shank and slender slip of a saddle stem. The flame grain is, as you can see, copious, lively, and lush, yet even so it's outdone by the display of bold, beautiful birdseye covering the underside.
