The "Bodog" is Love Geiger and Sarah Mossberg's nod to the late, great artisan Bo Nordh, based upon his own sleek, gracefully dramatic design. Aside from the challenge of recreating the refined and unique aesthetics of the original, however, the duo also ran into a considerable engineering challenge - Bo Nordh's own rendition never smoked very well. Though to the eye it was a real knock-out, the supple transition and lively cant of the bowl, combined with a standard chamber, just didn't leave much briar towards the rear, lower face of the bowl. It got hot - real hot, and no one wants to risk burning-out a pipe so lovely, much less rare and valuable.
Their solution to this engineering problem was, like the shape itself, simple and elegant: drill a precisely tapered chamber. This leaves much more substance to the briar about the fine transition than Bo Nordh's original, resulting in a pipe which is not only beautiful, but an easy pleasure to smoke as well.
