Pipemaking duo J&J produce some pretty dramatic designs from time to time, and suffice to say this is definitely one of those times. This is a very substantial briar, yet that's probably the last thing you'd notice about it. Frankly, there's just too much in the way of smoothly slashing and sweeping lines going on for that sheer mass to really become evident until you've picked it up. It's design heavily concentrated on dynamism, and it gets results. Of course, the shaping isn't just slapped around here and there without consideration, as the wild lines and asymmetrical form have been carefully composed to play to the briar's natural grain, doing a beautiful job of showing the flame along the flanks, and plenty of beautiful birdseye along both the rolling underside and the partial-plateau, eye-shaped rim.
