“Show us pics, or it didn’t happen”. I wish a buck every time I’ve heard that infamous retort, as well as a dollar for every time that I have chuckled at the same ("Remember kids, ‘sophomoric’ is just a liberal code word for ‘funny’"). In the case of this stout saddle-Billiard from Jared & John, in person, there’s some subtle hints of implied motion within a subtle fore-tilt to the rear of the bowl and an equally understated backwards sweep to the heel. I ‘have the pics’, but what I am seeing doesn’t come through on the same (much like the time I was abducted by aliens, but that’s another story). With a length under five inches and a bowl that is close to one and three-quarters inches in height, this pipe features a good deal of the spirit that you and I would associate with the American school. Where it varies a bit from many other interpretations, is the astounding thickness of the shank, as it relates to a fairly standard size bowl. The depth of the blast resides somewhere between the American and Danish approach, and the effort reveals the finest blasted grain to arrive in our most recent shipment from J&J.
