Sandblasted Bent Brandy with Mastodon Ivory

Product Number: 002-456-0032

Paul Hubartt is a versatile artisan, rendering briar in forms that range from smooth classic to deliberately grotesque gargoyles posed as if they were caught in the midst of crawling their way across the wilderness. In this piece he's obviously taken a nod from the Danish school, resulting in a flowing, rounded, modern form. It's full, natural, and nicely textured in hand, and though he's employed a rather dramatic shank and stem-base to keep the profile aesthetically balanced, the sensation in hand is still light and agile thanks to some deft positioning of the bowl providing plenty of easy leverage.
