For years now Luciano has produce some profoundly Italian pipes, complete with all the robust, neoclassical proportioning that's well-known to the school. So you can imagine the surprise when they unveiled the look of their new line, complete with the piece you see before you. Hefty bowls and thick shanks have now been switched up with features far more gracile: bamboo stems, abbreviated, delicate shanks, and bowls sized and shaped almost completely in opposition to their roots. This piece right off the bat presents itself as iconoclastic to Luciano's existing reputation--a naturalistic Cutty shape, given a light weight frame by way of its distinctively Asian materials. Oh yes, Luciano has changed, and in this case, change is definitely showing itself to be very good.
