A while back we introduced the first wave of the "new Luciano", a refresh of the brand that brings with it new shapes, and a switch to exclusive use of plateau briar. This Liverpool design didn't make it into the first wave, but I have to say it was well worth waiting a little longer for. The bump in briar quality is quite evident, with about 270-degrees worth of flame grain about the bowl, more running down each flank of the shank, birdseye down below and a fine crown of plateau for the rim. And the shape itself? Smooth and elegant, tall and trim, packing plenty chamber depth into a combination of form and line that's handsomely refined - not to mention tipped with an interesting stained horn accent and a fine-looking bit of cumberland.
