Peter Matzhold's "CU" stamp is composed of the initials of his two children, Caspar and Una. As you might well expect, it is reserved for only the absolute best work he creates - quite a thing indeed, given the already exceptional standards of his, well, standard production. Even knowing how reserved he is about anointing the "CU" grade upon any of his creations, I can't say I'm the least bit surprised to find it here, on the shank of this particular Blowfish. The graining is, quite simply, incredible. The cross grain presents consistently gorgeous strokes of flame, and as for the birdseye dominating the broad surface of the right flank, it is absolutely fine, and positively jam-packed in terms of density. Even within the context of world-class artisan-work, this briar offers something truly exceptional, and when it comes to arranging his design and the briar's bountiful, extremely rarefied natural assets to work in harmony together, Peter has outright nailed it.
