Peter Matzhold: Smooth Bent Dublin with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-290-0268
Though a very broad design, possessing plenty of mass, the sweeping, upward flow of line that dominates this bent Dublin's profile defines it as anything but heavy or stolid. There's a lot of substance to this briar, that is to say, but it's substance set upon building momentum. Such a design of bowl, transition, and flaring shank of course requires just the right stem to make it all work, and so that's just what Peter created, with a partially-stepped design that echoes the broad, boxwood-tipped face of the shank before dipping down and trailing smoothly backward, producing a profile reminiscent of the slipstreams of smoke used in wind-tunnel tests.
