Ok, you caught us. We are smiling. Nanna Ivarsson created a twin set of pipes, and asked us to represent her in the sale of the same said. How rare is a twin set? This is the first she has ever done. Now some pipe makers do make twin sets and, to their credit, the pipes usually complement each other pretty well. Some even come pretty close to looking like each other. These twins are as close to identical as anything from a briar source can be.
Carved from the same block of briar, and even stamped with the same serial number, I have these pipes sitting side by each and, mirror image curves aside, cannot tell a difference. Removing the scarcity factor and just looking at the pipes themselves, these pieces are almost supernaturally handsome. A wonderful melding of a full moon with a half moon, wrapped around a clean arc, and then adorned with superlative straight grain. No wonder we are smiling.
