I can't help but think of this as a playful design, the unusual combination of proportions created by match a flowing, but very muscular shank and transition to such a high, trim, almost tubular bowl (a hint of Ivarsson influence, I suspect) simply has an eccentric character about. Fortunately, that's eccentric in a charming way - the kind of eccentricity that keeps us fondly remembering a cantankerous spinach-chugging sailor and his equally bizarre companions and love interest some eighty-odd years down the road. An eccentric character, which, most importantly and distinguishing of all, has
character. And of course, along with that there's also a deep chamber, fantastic ring grain, and a lovely cumberland stem.
