This is a big briar, with a broad, towering bowl and a mile of shank. Even so, it's also spectacularly dense, grain-wise, with loads of flame running along the flanks, and birdseye so tight as to make even the aforementioned look spare in comparison. I suppose that, having come across an unusually promising (and quite long) block of briar, Luigi and sons just wanted to make sure not an inch of it was wasted. And from the looks of things, it wasn't.
