The inherent grace and excellent hand ergonomics that are almost always part and parcel of the bent Egg form have long made the shape a personal favorite of mine. Sadly, at least from my observations, this personal favorite also seems to be the least created Danish classic from Kent Rasmussen (this is only the third to even make it to our site). Imagine the big, dopey grin that is presently playing on my mug, along with my party hat and interpretive dance of joy (ok, don’t imagine the last two, you have to sleep sometime this week).
The rim is stunning, there’s simply no other superlative to describe it; a perfect teardrop of impeccable grain, with a very wicked point at 2:00-2:30. This point becomes either genesis or termination (depending on your eye travel) for the signature ‘Rasmussian ridge’ which sojourns from the top of the saddle to the previously mentioned tip of the crown, outlining/defining the arcing flame grain covers the panel on the right. As fine as that grain is, it receives some mighty competition from the birdseye that sweeps down the entirety of the front of the bowl and underside of the shank. Please add this one to your collection. It's siren's call is killing me and there are only so many convenience stores in my area, and they only keep $20 in the register at night...
