The most strongly defining feature of the Hawkbill shape is, of course, the aquiline arch of the shank and stem - something which Rinaldo has really emphasized on this sizable briar. As unorthodox as the Hawkbill may appear to those who typically favor simpler, older classic shapes, it is actually very practical, offering a full and rounded, stout-walled bowl, plenty of room for the thumb about the transition, and a naturally positioned presentation of the bit.
