Scott Klein has sent us a beautiful batch of pipes (as he always does), but I have to admit that this one is my favorite. It’s rare to find a single piece that perfectly balances elegance and rusticity. I believe Klein has gotten that balance just right in this Smooth Freehand Dublin. The expertly shaped shank transitions seamlessly into the more free-form bowl, the organic nature of which is accented by the exposed burl on the rim. The grain pattern on the pipe is exquisite at all angles, but can best be appreciated by viewing the pipe from the bottom, where we can see just how naturally the flame grain radiates upward from the tight birdseye on the bottom of the shank.
